Science Quiz Review Strategies

If you are looking for ideas to help support your quiz review, here are some strategies:
-review your course notes in your journal
-add to your notes using the textbook information...use a different coloured pen to add to your notes from class
-keep a vocabulary list
-be sure that you can answer the analysis questions on p.9, Topic 1 & 2 Review questions...you don't need to fully journal these but take jot notes (you might want to answer a few using the SEXC paragraph format)
-talk to people about the issues we have looked at, play Devil's Advocate, argue issues from all sides...this will help to really support your answers

Playlist of My Life

1.Record 8 songs that represent you and your unique creed and list the artist. When choosing think about  moods, feelings, lyrics best sum up your beliefs, aims, personality and how you walk through life?

2.Choose one question from the assignment and one song from your playlist.  Answer the question to create your topic sentence and then complete the paragraph by explaining yourself with evidence. (SEXC format)

3.Write 2-3 sentences for ALL of your songs explaining why they represent you and your life.

To stay on track and manage your time you should have checklist completed by Monday.

Today in Math, thanks 901 for being patient as our technology was working against us!  Perhaps a quick review of symmetry & translations tonight.... ramp you up tomorrow!

902:  I thought you were more confident today with the translations which is great to see.  Please complete p. 12 #4,6,9,10,12...remember, you should have a bit of left over graph paper.  Textbooks can be found in Cougar Community on D2L under content.

In Science, we reviewed speciation & pushed forward into structural & behavioural adaptations...we are officially finished Topic 1!!

In Math, we worked on translations.  For many of you, this is new & a wee bit frustrating!!  Please be patient & stick with it.  We will review again tomorrow so if you were not feeling the groove today, don't panic.

Today we defined Biodiversity & looked at the concept of VARIATION between species & among species.

In Math, we reviewed lines of symmetry.  We practiced reflecting triangles over the y axis, x axis & the diagonal.  It is much harder to reflect over the diagonal!!  We watched a youtube video...see the attached video.

On the graph paper you received in class, please draw a triangle of your choosing and reflect it over the y, then over the x, then over the diagonal.  Please include the coordinate for A,B,C and Aprime, Bprime, Cprime.  Please attempt to reflect the letter E over the diagonal.

We are most impressed by your high level ideas and fantastic class discussions.

We will fully jump into Symmetry on Monday so please be ready with the materials you need.  If you want to look through the unit, remember to go to the Cougar Community D2L shell and look under content.  The Math Links 9 textbook is there and Symm/Surface Area is Chapter 1.

I am so looking forward to reading through your critical thinking responses from today.  Please share with your adults what you were thinking & how you interpreted the question...there are so many ways...there is no correct answer to the question.  Think about and discuss whether or not you should be utilizing your technology during responses...do you think your writing would have been stronger if you had used voice to text or typed it out?  This is the year to figure out what works best for you!!

2nd Day Greatness!

Welcome Back to a stage of wonder! In walks curiosity and thought to say that all the increments of time we have experienced weather subconscious or not make up who we are in this moment. The question is  . . . What are your beliefs or aims that guide your actions?

In class today we put our mark to paper and began our quest to find the answer.  First we look at where we are right now in this moment. We committed to our Graffiti Names and wrote ourselves a letter of guidance to be saved till June.

*Did you find the error?  Remember to look for them to get yourself a ballot for the monthly draw.
What is the difference between wether, weather, and whether? A wether is a castrated ram (male sheep). Weather refers to the state of the atmosphere (e.g., temperature, wind, clouds, rain). Whether is a conjunction with a similar meaning to if (e.g., I wonder whether it will rain).

So great to start a bit of curriculum today!!
